A medical practice website has a narrower job than most sites. It has to convince someone who is worried, often on a phone, often late at night, that your practice is the one to call. Then it has to make that contact as easy as possible.

That is a different brief from a brochure site, and it is why so many practice websites look fine and book nothing.

Medical Practice Website Design That Works For You

Start with what happens in the first four seconds, because that is about how long a prospective patient gives you before deciding whether you look credible. Not enough time to read anything. What lands is whether the site belongs to a real practice, whether it loads, and whether the thing they came to do is visible without scrolling.

So that is where we start. Named providers with real photographs rather than stock. Insurance and new patient information where somebody can actually find it. Booking or calling reachable from anywhere on the site. Then we make it fast, because a practice site that takes six seconds on a phone has already lost to the practice down the road that takes two.

Underneath that, the structure has to earn rankings rather than have them bolted on later. Separate pages for each location you serve and each procedure worth competing on. Clean URLs. Schema so search engines and AI assistants can tell what you do and where you do it. A Google Business Profile that agrees with the site instead of contradicting it.

Choosing a Medical Website Design Agency

In our experience two questions sit behind every one of these conversations. Have you built for a practice like mine, and are you going to get me in trouble with HIPAA.

On the first: we have built for primary care, dental, orthopedics, urgent care, dermatology, plastic surgery and audiology practices, from single-provider offices to multi-location groups. A dental practice competing on cosmetic work and an urgent care competing on wait times need genuinely different sites. We made both mistakes early enough in our history to know the difference.

Worth asking any medical web design agency you talk to: who writes the content, who does the search work, and are those the same people who build the site. When they are not, the site launches and then gets retrofitted six months later by somebody who inherited it.

A Healthcare Website Designer Who Understands the Compliance Side

HIPAA is a design constraint from day one, not a review at the end. Contact forms, chat widgets, appointment requests and intake flows all have to be built with it in mind, and most practices do not find the gap until somebody asks a question nobody can answer.

We treat it as a baseline rather than an add-on. There is more detail on our HIPAA compliant web design page.

After Launch, Which is Where Most Projects Fall Apart

A website is not finished when it goes live. Providers join and leave. Service lines change. Insurance panels change. Google changes.

Practices we work with on an ongoing basis get their site treated as something that keeps moving, with someone watching what patients search for and what they do once they arrive. Practices that want a build and then to be left alone can have that too, and we will tell you honestly which one you are asking for.

Where We Are

Dublin, Ohio, since 2001. Everything in-house, nothing offshored and nothing subcontracted. We are a Certified Google Partner, and have been ranked in the top three percent of agencies in the US.

We have medical clients in Ohio and throughout the US. We work equally as well in our home state as we do across the country. If your practice serves a hyper-local area, we get the “local lay of the land” and custom tailor our programs to your patients. We never assume that Florida patients are the same as patients in Oregon; in fact, we actually go in thinking that they aren’t.

If you are weighing a rebuild, or you have a site that looks right and is not producing appointments, we will look at it and tell you what we see. For the wider picture beyond the website, see healthcare marketing for medical practices.

FAQs

Will our website be HIPAA compliant?

Any part of the site where a patient can send you information has to be built for it, which means contact forms, appointment requests, chat and intake. Those get built with HIPAA in mind from the start rather than reviewed at the end. You will also get a straight answer about which third-party tools are safe to add later and which ones will create a problem. If you already have a site, we can audit what is there and show you where the gaps are.

Will the site work with our EHR or practice management system?

Often, though it depends which one you run. Some publish a way to connect and some do not. Before anyone promises you an integration, your specific system gets checked, because sometimes the honest answer is that a clean handoff to your staff beats a fragile connection that breaks the next time the vendor updates something.

What happens when a provider joins or leaves?

Your site needs updating that week, not next quarter. A provider page still listing a doctor who left six months ago costs you trust with the exact person who was about to call. On an ongoing program that is handled for you. If you would rather your own team own it, they will be shown how, so nobody is waiting on an agency to make a name change.

Do we have to write the content?

No. Most practices do not have anyone with spare time for it, and the pages that actually bring patients in are rarely the ones written by committee. You get a draft to react to, you correct anything clinically wrong, and nothing goes live without your approval. Your review matters because you know your patients and your procedures. Starting from a blank page should not be your problem.

Do you work with businesses outside of Columbus?

Yes, the majority of our clients are not local to Columbus. We serve businesses across the U.S. and have done international work as well. We’re based in Dublin, Ohio, but our work has never been limited to our backyard.

How will I know it’s working?

The most obvious sign will be a gradual increase in keyword rankings. We’ll track and report on a handful of phrases, and as they increase, other peripheral phrases will increase as well. All of this adds up to more traffic to your site.

But, that’s only half the battle. Once you get that increased traffic, our team jumps back in and makes sure engagement and conversion is happening. After all, any agency can get people to your site, but it’s what they do there that counts!

We will provide all this data to you using both a dashboard (that you can refer to anytime) as well as handcrafted, easy to understand reports.

What's the difference between AEO, GEO and SEO?

SEO focuses on ranking your pages in traditional search results. AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is about structuring content so AI tools can pull it out as a direct answer. GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is about earning a spot as a cited source inside a longer, AI-generated response. In practice, all three build on the same foundation: clear, credible, well-structured content. We treat them as one connected strategy, not three separate budgets.

Tell Us About Your Practice

Send us a few details and we will look at your current site and tell you what we see. If you would rather talk it through first, call 614.886.4000 and you will get someone here rather than a call center.
